'Texas' - Jimmy McKenzie Jimmy McKenzie was born on Texas Downs station near the Bungle Bungle Massif (Purnululu) in the east Kimberley WA. As a young adult he worked the stock camps with his mother, acclaimed ochre artist Queenie McKenzie, along with many of the Warmun (Turkey Creek) artists who acquired renowned international acclaim most notably Rover thomas, George Mung Mung, Hector Jandany & Jack Brittain. Jimmy began painting in 2009 and has quickly gained recognition for his work which is typical of the Warmun genre. He works only with natural ochres collected & prepared by hand and demonstrates a natural talent for the use of texture & space.
