
Jonah Cacioppe
Originally from Perth, WA, Jonah received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. He also trained in London at the St Oswold's School of Painting. The course was a rigorous, three year, predominately figurative training, which also involved meditative practice in its curriculum.
In 2000 and 2001 Jonah worked fulltime on the Waterperry House Fresco Project in Oxford, UK. Involving painters and sculptors, the project is one of the largest series of frescoe paintings to be completed in the UK and is based on idea, myths and practices drawn from Advaita Vedanta.
In 2002 Jonah took up a scholarship to the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, awarded through the Mosman Youth Art Prize, also receiving the Brett Whiteley Scholarship to Julian Ashtons in 2003. In 2004 he completed a Masters of Studio Arts at Sydney College of the Arts with Honors and a distinction, under the supervison of Dr Lindy Lee.
Jonah has exhibited extensively in Perth, Sydney, Oxford and London, including; Art in Action, a UK International Art Festival (2000 & 2003), the Melbourne and Sydney Affordable Art Fairs, Firstdraft and Trevor Victor Harvey Gallery, Sydney and Metro5 in Melbourne.
Jonah was Head of Painting at the Art Academy in London from 2005 to 2007 and taught at St Oswold's School of Painting where he originally trained. Recently he returned to Perth to take up a job as Business Manager at Integral Development, a boutique management consultancy, specialising in leadership development, ethical leadership and sustainability.
His last show - Sex, Bombs & Bliss - was a two-man show at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. The show explored the classic themes of death, beauty and transcendence and was a great success.
