Dianne Gall

In my work, often Utopia waits just beyond a door, a light at the end of the corridor signifies someone is there, what is he or she doing? The imagery looks for ways to describe the fragility and transient nature of life, the beauty in the things that surround and contribute to the memory picture of people and places. It is a snapshot of being human, a voyeuristic representation of the journey we must take through life. Life is raw, it’s tough and the lighting of Film Noir, gives these elements the importance they deserve, they allude to the hidden world. There is something not quite right in the sometimes pristine, marbled walls and floors, behind the closed doors, there is indeed something lurking beneath the veneer of tranquillity.

Painting is a continuum throughout the life of an artist and as I once again return to tranquillity, harmony and co-existing with the rhythm of humanity, my work continues to evolve.

Dianne Gall was born 1964 in Adelaide, South Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The South Australian School of Art in 1985 and has exhibited extensively throughout Australia since then.
