Katrina Virgona

Katrina Virgona graduated from the University of New England with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 1983. In 1992 she completed an Associate Diploma in Visual Arts Management at CMC TAFE Perth and in 1993 published a book of poetry "The Unknown Pasenger" illustrated by Western Australian printmaker David Jay Reed. In 2002 Katrina graduated with a further Bachelor of Arts (Art) and completed her Honours (First Class) in 2006 both from Curtin University.

Katrina moved to Darlington eighteen months ago. She has a studio on her hills property and continues to teach part-time in the Art Department at Curtin University. Katrina teaches a myriad of textile based techniques and processes. As an artist she works three dimensionally with a diverse range of materials including paint, wire, wood, fur, felt, various fibres and a vast array of textiles.

  • April 29th - May 15th, 2009 - 'OBJECTIFY' - A group exhibition of intriguing and diverse three-dimensional works. Featuring the sculptures of Thomas Heidt, Pierre Capponi and Daniel Iley, new southern ice porcelain vessels by ceramicist Alana McVeigh, jewellery by up-and-coming jewellers Kim Wong and Justin Linney, Katrina Virgona's textile a works, glass forms by Denise Pepper and bronze sculptures by Ayad Alqaragholli.
